Welcome to my blog, 'Life is Beautiful'. My name is Daryl Simons Jr. and this blog will contain a number of things, and range of various topics. I will sharing my personal story, some of the happenings in my life, thoughts on various things within life (religion, politics, nature, philosophy, etc.), and just the human condition and our perceptions on others, as well as of ourselves and our emotions.
I am currently a junior at Albright College, co-majoring in Psychology/Political Science. I will be interning in Washington D.C. at a lobbying firm called McAllister & Quinn. While I am down there, I will try and blog weekly about my experiences in D.C., about the people who I meet, and the things that I will learn. Now, onto more about 'who I am' -- and this is a question that I Know other people, alongside myself, struggle with answering, so I will just stick to the basics.
I love basketball. I love playing it. I love watching it. I just love everything about it -- well mostly everything about it. It is just a sport that really emphasizes the team concept. While every player on the floor has their role, they are capable, and sometimes responsible, for every aspect of the game -- offensively and defensively.
Another interest, or passion, of mine is music. I am not much of a musician, per se, though I do play the piano a little bit. I do appreciate and listen to a lot of music, and especially enjoy discovering new music. The genres that I listen to include, but certainly are limited by, are: rock, alternative rock, punk rock, indie rock, classical, rap (more picky with what rap I listen to), pop punk, pop (occasionally), some older country, psychedelic rock... the list goes on. In fact, I host a weekly radio music show on campus, Wednesday nights called 'The Reasonably Insane Show' -- link will be posted above.
Back to the subject at hand, I also enjoy reading ("Perks of Being a Wallflower" is one of my favorites), and I am currently reading through "Cloud Atlas." Video games are another passion for me, Final Fantasy being, by far, my favorite series, especially within the role-playing genre.
And lastly, photography has become a passion over the past year or so -- I will probably begin to transfer my photo albums from Facebook onto this blog at some point. But, until then, if you visit my Facebook page, you can skim through my photo albums and let me know what you think! I primarily take pictures of sunsets, nature, and landscapes. I haven't really branched out into taking pictures of people, yet.
